Author, The Girl on the Train
Paula Hawkins worked as a journalist for fifteen years before turning her hand to fiction. Born and brought up in Zimbabwe, Paula moved to London in 1989 and has lived there ever since. She developed a taste for crime as a teenager with Agatha Christie, but acknowledges Donna Tartt’s The Secret History as having really opened her eyes to the possibilities of the psychological thriller.
She attended the inaugural Crime Story in 2014, and in 2015 had her debut thriller The Girl on the Train released to tremendous acclaim. It has been published all over the world and is being turned into a film by DreamWorks Pictures, due to be released October 2016 in the United States.
