Gaby Chiappe is currently adapting Lissa Evans’ Orange Prize shortlisted novel, Their Finest Hour and a Half, for Wildgaze Films/Number 9 Films and BBC Films; Mike Newell will direct.
For TV, Gaby has recently been writing episodes of BBC1 drama The Paradise, the second series of which will transmit in Autumn 2013. Other recent projects include a two part adaptation of one of Ann Cleeves’ Shetland novels, to transmit on BBC1 in 2014 starring Douglas Henshall.
Gaby’s current projects include an adaptation of Georgette Heyer’s much loved regency novels for BBC Scotland., as well as Shade, an original TV series co-written with Alex Perrin for Hillbilly Television and ITV. With Alex Perrin, Gaby has also developed another original serial for Hillbilly, Cuffed. Gaby and Alex were also commissioned to write an original TV series, Stranded, for World Productions.
Gaby has developed a TV series entitled The Watch House for the BBC, and another series, Troubleshooters, for Red Productions and the BBC. Gaby also written episodes of the ITV series Vera, starring Brenda Blethyn as the eponymous detective. BBC series credits include Lark Rise to Candleford, Survivors, Eastenders, Casualty, Holby City and Born and Bred.
